I Heart Sandfly

There is a crossroads community here in Savannah that has won my heart in so many ways. I dont really even know a thing about Sandfly proper...only the bits and pieces of history....the flashing eye gleaming tooth. Most of my work in Savannah is more or less focused around Beautiful Historic Downtown Sandfly...and it feels so familiar and sweet. The crossroads here at Skidaway is the intersection where Ferguson becomes Norwood but at this moment I cant remember exactly...but I think it runs East West. The garden shop...Herb Creek...where I sort of contribute is on a corner of the crossroads....its kinda like riding past a parade float that may be coming or going at any moment depending on the season and the rain. In every direction there is some sort of history or relevance to be remembered. Racing cars and old plantations....islands and islands and islands. I can hardly keep up. But as is often the case humans tend to gather as close tho the water as in comfortable and nestle in and stay. Sandflynians and Savannahans alike seem to stick close to home and family. Reminds me of New Orleans. Driftaway Cafe is the favored grille and pub on the same corner. Its surprising to encounter a front of house staff with such genuine sugar and always a hearty welcome form the owners and the qualified kitchen. There are a number of other great little places....like Sandfly BBQ (got that right)....mom and pop and more in Sandfly but at this corner at the usual hours of dining and or cocktails there are cars like an Iron Bowl tailgate. This tiny little spot on Georgia's sublime coast is worth every mile off Savannah's beaten if beautiful path.

Two Eagles medicine

As some of you know I continue to research herbal medicine and naturealist behavior. Lemon juice is reputed to be one of the most powerful disinfecants naturally occurring on Earth. Lemon is often associated with cleanser fragrance and hand soap. Life along the southern coast has taught me the importance of lemon in cooking and entertaining. In addition to text...lore and culture I have introduced lemon juice into my medicinal regime. I have thrice broken mild fevers and stopped countless esophageal (sp) irritations. I encourage everyone to try this product. Grocers and natural foods/health food stores generally keep stock. I also apply to cuts bites and irritations along with the other powerhouse RAW GARLIC....but I am old school..."doesnt burn...doesnt clean" hahahahaha
cheers
